Frequently Asked Questions from Faculty & Staff

How can I help a student who is struggling to define their career goals?

When you have an advisee who is struggling to define their career goals, suggest they speak to a Career Counselor about taking a career assessment that can help them identify strengths and areas of interest. We have several assessments including MyPlan, an online career assessment available to all students. Our career counselors also administer and interpret the Strong Interest Inventory and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator by appointment.

How can I help my students with a graduate school search?

We know that you are essential in helping your students get into graduate school. We can support your students by offering personalized help through the decision-making and graduate application process.

Where can I get information about our recent Graduates (Alumni Placement Survey)?

Brockport students have been successful in obtaining employment and entering graduate schools after graduation. Within a few months after commencement, The College at Brockport surveys our graduates to determine their success in the job market or in graduate study. Here are the results of the almuni survey.

How can I help my students with a job search?

We know that students seek your advice and counseling when it comes to career decision-making and job search. Encourage your students to search our popular Internet database of jobs. We list all current job and internship opportunities, as well as on campus jobs in our online database, Eagle Connect.

How can I help my students find an internship opportunity?

We collaborate with academic departments to develop experiential education opportunities for students to help them explore career options for their chosen major. Internships provide valuable training experience for students while they are still in school. We can work with you and your students to help find internships that provide positive learning experiences.
