This fall, students in Dr. Jerry Ajay's Web App Development class presented their projects conducted in tandem with a non-profit, ‘Measures for Justice’, in the city of Rochester. Students met with their technical mentors at 'Measures for Justice' every Friday to discuss their weekly progress. This industry-driven practicum exposed students to the latest trends such as Agile methodologies and also to cutting-edge technologies developed/used by major players such as Microsoft, Google and Amazon. The director of the project, Andrew Branch, and Software Developer Josh Kramer, attended the capstone presentations by these students on December 5. The success of these projects was demonstrated by 'Measures for Justice' requesting the students to continue the collaboration with the department to Spring 2020 as well. Two web-based products developed by our students are currently in the process of final deployment at 'Measures for Justice'.

Dr. Jerry Ajay is a recent graduate, having obtained his PhD at the University at Buffalo (SUNY) and joined the department in Fall 2019. His research interests and scholarly accomplishments revolve around the domain of web development. Building on the success of the collaboration with 'Measures for Justice', Dr. Ajay, in collaboration with Dr. Sandeep Mitra, professor of computing sciences, is also currently pursuing similar partnerships in the Rochester area, including with Paychex, a major IT employer in the area.
