Dr. Elizabeth Heavey, Professor of Nursing, Publishes Three Articles in Nursing 2017
Dr. Heavey's first two articles are part of a series of articles designed to encourage and support new nurse authors. Dr. Heavey presented nationally and subsequently wrote about her experience actively seeking, teaching and supporting new nurse authors including her experienced RN to BSN students. Over 25 RN-BSN students have achieved the goal of professional publication while enrolled in the college's RN-BSN program. Their work has been widely disseminated and resulted in feedback from around the world. Dr. Heavey hopes that the article series will encourage more experienced nurses to progress to authorship and share their clinical knowledge and expertise.
Dr. Heavey's Mycoplasma Genitalium article is part of a three part series about emerging infections she has written for the journal. Dr. Heavey is an epidemiologist and nurse midwife serving as an expert reviewer for infectious disease/women's health issues for the journal as well as being an editorial board member.
